2000 Cadillac Escalade Fuel Pressure Regulator

We need to disconnect the negative battery cable, relieve the fuel system pressure and remove the upper intake manifold assembly and the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip. Pull and twist the fuel pressure regulator. Then remove the regulator seal lower O-ring, the regulator assembly filter, the regulator seal upper O-ring, and the regulator seal backup ring. Finally, we cover the fuel pressure regulator housing and Discard the O-rings.

You can disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine, loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve the tank vapor pressure, and connect the J 34730-1A fuel pressure gauge or the equivalent to the fuel pressure connection. Next wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the gauge to avoid spillage, install the bleed hose of the gauge into an approved container and open the valve on the gauge to bleed the system pressure. The fuel connections are now safe for servicing. Then drain any fuel remaining in the gauge into an approved container.

We can turn on the ignition for 2 seconds and turn off the ignition for 10 seconds. Then turn on the ignition.

You will need a fuel pressure gauge.

The proper way is to lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil and install the regulator seal backup ring, the regulator seal upper O-ring, the regulator assembly filter, and the regulator seal lower O-ring. Next, assemble the regulator with the vacuum tube pointing down into the regulator retainer clip Install the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip and install the upper manifold assembly, tighten the fuel filler cap. Finally, we connect the negative battery cable and inspect for leaks.
