Q: What is the throttle body cleaning procedure?
A:
You need to remove the intake air resonator from the throttle body and inspect the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate for deposits. It is necessary to open the throttle valve to inspect all surfaces. Clean the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate using a clean shop towel with GM top engine cleaner, P/N 1052626 or AC-Delco carburetor tune-up conditioner, P/N X66-P, or an equivalent product. Then remove and disassemble the throttle body for cleaning if the deposits are excessive. After disassembly, clean the throttle body using parts cleaning brush and assemble and install the throttle body if previously done. Finally, we can install the intake air resonator.

You need to remove the intake air resonator fastener and the intake air resonator from the throttle body by pivoting the intake air resonator upward until the hinge clip releases from the lip on the throttle body. Disconnect the IAC valve harness connector and the TP sensor harness connector. Then remove the cruise control cable, the accelerator cable, the cable mounting bracket, the air cleaner adaptor stud, the throttle body fasteners, and the throttle body assembly and then remove and discard the flange seal.
