Q: How do you remove the water pump?
A:
You need to drain the coolant from the radiator, remove the upper fan shroud, the drive belt and the fan, the fan clutch, and the pulley from the coolant pump. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the coolant pump, the heater hose from the coolant pump, and the bypass hose. Then you can remove the water pump bolts and the coolant pump from the engine block and clean the mating surfaces on the coolant pump and the engine block.

A:
You need to install the new gaskets and the water pump, apply GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent thread sealant on the water pump mounting bolts, and install the bolts. Connect the bypass hose and the heater hose to the coolant pump and install the coolant pump pulley, fan, and fan clutch to the coolant pump hub. Then you can install the drive belt and the upper fan shroud. Install the radiator cap and inspect the cooling system for leaks.
