Q: What is the proper way to install the wheel drive shafts?
A:
You can seat the front wheel drive axle into the transaxle, verify that the front wheel drive shaft retaining ring is properly seated, install the front wheel drive axle, connect the ball joint and the outer tie rod assembly to the steering knuckle, install a new front wheel drive shaft nut and the stabilizer shaft link, install the wheel and the tire, lower the vehicle and inspect the transaxle fluid level and the wheel alignment.

Q: How do you replace the wheel drive shafts?
A:
You can raise the vehicle, remove the wheel and the tire, remove the stabilizer shaft link and the front wheel drive shaft nut, disconnect the outer tie rod assembly, separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle, separate the front wheel drive axle from the front wheel drive shaft bearing and remove the front wheel drive axle.

You can crimp the boot retaining clamp to 176 Nm (130 ft. lbs.).

Q: What is the disassembly procedure for the wheel drive shaft inner joint and boot?
A:
The procedure is to cut through the swage ring, remove the large boot retaining clamp, dispose of the large boot retaining clamp, separate the inboard boot from the trilobal tripot bushing, remove the housing, remove the trilobal tripot bushing, spread the spacer rings, remove the spacer ring, the spider assembly, the second spacer ring, and the inboard boot, clean the half shaft bar, inspect the needle roller, the needle bearings and the trunnion on the spider assembly, check the tripot housing and replace any damaged parts.
