Q: How do you install the front crankshaft seal?
A:
You can lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal, install the crankshaft front oil seal, tighten the bolt, remove the J 35354-A, coat the outside seal surface of the crankshaft balancer with lubricant GM P/N 1050169 or equivalent, install the crankshaft balancer, inspect for leaks and perform the CKP system variation learn procedure.

Q: How do you replace the crankshaft seal retainer?
A:
You can drain the engine coolant from the cooling system, drain the engine oil, remove the oil pan, remove the engine flywheel, the crankshaft rear oil seal housing bolts, the crankshaft rear oil seal housing, the crankshaft rear oil seal and the gasket, inspect the ID of the bore, inspect the crankshaft for nicks of burrs on the surface and repair or replace the crankshaft.

Q: What is the installation procedure for the crankshaft seal retainer?
A:
The procedure is to make sure that the crankshaft rear oil seal is removed from the crankshaft rear oil seal housing, clean the old gasket, install the new gasket, install the crankshaft rear oil seal housing, wipe a thin film of oil on both sides of the J 41349, install the J 41349, place a straight edge on the cylinder block oil pan flange and the rear oil seal housing flange, tighten the crankshaft rear oil seal housing bolts, remove the J 41349, recheck the step height on each side, install the new crankshaft rear oil seal, install the engine flywheel and fill the cooling system with engine coolant.
