If the diode is located next to a connector terminal remove the terminal(s) from the connector to prevent damage from the soldering tool, you can remove the inoperative diode from the harness with a suitable soldering tool.

Q: What should be cautioned in taping the diode to the harness or connector using electrical tape?
A:
To prevent shorts to ground and water intrusion, you should completely cover all exposed wire and diode attachment points with tape.

Q: If the VCM fails to program, what should we do?
A:
We should check all the VCM connections, check the ITCS terminal and equipment for the latest software version, and try again to program the VCM. If the programming fails again, we should replace the VCM.

Q: How do I install the VCM?
A:
You should align the notches of the knock sensor module with the notches in the socket, install the knock sensor module in the socket, install the knock sensor module access cover on the VCM, install the knock Sensor module access cover screws, connect the VCM harness connectors, install the VCM into the VCM bracket, fasten the VCM retainer clip and connect the negative battery cable.

Q: How do I remove the VCM?
A:
You should disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the VCM retainer clip, the VCM, the VCM harness connectors, the knock sensor module access cover screws, and the knock sensor module access cover, gently pinch the retaining clip and pull upward to remove the knock sensor module.
