You should disable the SIR system, remove the steering column from the vehicle and remove the steering shaft seal, sensor retainer, steering wheel position sensor, two lower spring retainers, lower bearing spring, lower bearing seat, and the adapter and bearing assembly.

Q: How do I install the Steering Column Position Sensor?
A:
You should install an adapter and bearing assembly, lower bearing seat, lower bearing spring, 2 lower spring retainers, steering wheel position sensor, sensor retainer, and steering shaft seal and enable the SIR system and install the steering column to the vehicle and enable the SIR system.

Q: What should we know about the Steering Column?
A:
You should check the capsules on the Steering Column bracket assembly: all must be securely seated in the bracket slots and checked for any loose conditions when pushed or pulled by hand. If not, the bracket should be replaced if bolted to the jacket assembly. If the bracket is welded to the jacket assembly replace the jacket assembly. If measured dimensions are not within specifications, a new jacket must be installed.
Q: How do I remove the Steering Wheel and Column-Standard?
A:
You should disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system (if equipped), remove the inflator module, remove the horn pad assembly (if not equipped with SIR), remove the horn switch, make an alignment mark, remove the steering wheel nut and the steering wheel.
