2001 Buick Regal Parking Brake Cable

You can relieve the park brake cable tension at the equalizer, the rear cable from the front cable, the park brake cable from the actuator lever, cable retaining pin from the support bracket, and remove the park brake cable.

You can disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable, the front floor console, gain access to the park/lock cable at the column, place the transaxle shift control lever in the PARK position, slip a screwdriver blade into the slot provided in the ignition switch inhibitor, use the screwdriver to depress the cable latch, pull the cable from the inhibitor, remove the park/lock cable at the shift control, the cable retainer from the park/lock cable at the shift control, and the park/lock cable.

You can place the shift lever in the PARK position, the ignition key in the LOCK position, the shift lever cannot move to another position, the ignition key in the RUN position, the shift lever in the NEUTRAL position, pull the cable connector lock back to the UP position, the cable connector as outlined, push the cable connector lock button down, the operation, snap the lock button down, and reinstall the cable into the clips to provide the correct routing.

The recommended torque is 47 N.m (35 lb-ft).

You can position the park brake cable into the support bracket and install the cable retaining pin, the park brake cable to the actuator lever, the rear cable to the front cable, the parking brake, and lower the vehicle.
