After lubricating the new O-rings with clean engine oil, you can install the regulator seal backup ring, the regulator seal upper O-ring, the regulator assembly filter, and the regulator seal lower O-ring. Next, you can assemble the regulator with the vacuum tube, the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip, and the upper manifold assembly. After connecting the negative battery cable, you need to inspect for leaks and install the engine cover.

You need to turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable. Then you can remove the engine cover, connect the J 34730-1A, wrap a shop towel around the fitting, and install the bleed hose of the gage. Then you can open the valve on the gage and drain the fuel remaining in the gage into an approved container.

You need to relieve the fuel system pressure and remove the upper intake manifold assembly. Then you can remove the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip and twist the fuel pressure regulator. After that, you can remove the regulator seal lower O-ring, the regulator assembly filter, the regulator seal upper O-ring, and the regulator seal backup ring. Then you can cover the fuel pressure regulator housing and discard the O-rings.
