You need to remove the negative (-) battery cable from the battery, remove the retaining nut and the positive (+) battery cable from the starter solenoid, disconnect the solenoid electrical connector, and remove two mounting bolts and the starter motor assembly.

You need to remove two bolts, two screws, and the end cover of the commutator from the yoke, remove the commutator end bushing and the washers from the yoke, scribe match marks on the yoke and the drive housing, remove the drive housing, the pinion drive lever, the armature, the brush holder, the brushes and the drive bushing, pull the armature stop ring toward the overrunning clutch assembly, remove the armature retaining ring, the armature stop ring, and the overrunning clutch assembly.
