You need to remove the Oil Pan, and the crankshaft oil deflector nuts, and remove the crankshaft oil deflector.

You need to lightly oil the replacement Oil Filter gasket with clean oil and install the new oil filter, install the new oil filter, and the engine oil drain plug, then remove the oil drain pan, and fill the engine with new engine oil.

You should clean the oil level indicator tube, apply GM sealant P/N 12345739 or equivalent around the oil level indicator tube 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) below the bead, then install the oil level indicator tube into the engine block, install the oil level indicator and the thermostat bypass pipe.
