Q: What should be done to correct the front or rear axle pinion seal leak?
A:
Anew pinion seal is now available from GMSPO for service on the vehicles referenced above. It is similar in design to the new pinion seal used in production beginning with vehicles produced for the 2008 model year. It is not interchangeable due to some slight dimensional differences.

Q: What is the disassembly procedure for the wheel drive shaft outer joint and seal?
A:
The procedure is to remove the large seal retaining clamp from the CV Joint, remove the CV joint assembly from the half shaft bar, remove the half shaft outboard seal from the half shaft bar, remove the first chrome alloy ball, remove the inner race from the cage, and then clean the half shaft bar.
Q: What is the draining procedure for the lubricant change?
A:
The procedure is to raise and support the vehicle, clean any dirt from around the Differential drain plug, position a drain pan under the drain plug, and then remove the drain plug from the differential and drain the fluid.
Q: What should be done if one or more of the universal joints have lost lubricant?
A:
You should replace the Driveshaft completely.
