The proper way is to install the new fuel injector O-ring seals onto the fuel injectors, install the fuel injectors to the fuel rail with the new retainer clips, install the fuel rail with the injectors to the intake manifold, install the bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake manifold, and then install the intake plenum.

The procedure is to remove the air inlet grill, place a shop towel under the fuel pressure regulator, disconnect the atmospheric vent hose from the fuel pressure regulator, remove the fuel pressure regulator clamp bolt, spread the clamp only enough to allow the fuel pressure regulator to be removed, and then twist while pulling outward to remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel rail.

You should wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure connection to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. The towel will absorb any fuel leakage that occurs during the connection of the fuel pressure gauge. Place the towel in an approved container when the connection of the fuel pressure gauge is complete.
