2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT Oil Filter

You need to lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil, install the oil filter and the oil drain plug to the engine block, lower the vehicle, fill the crankcase, remove the oil level indicator, wipe the indicator, install the oil level indicator, remove the oil level indicator, and close the hood.

You need to open the hood, remove the oil fill cap, raise and suitably support the vehicle, place an oil drain pan, remove the oil pan drain plug, drain the engine oil, wipe the excess oil from the drain plug hole and plug, remove the oil filter from the engine block, and wipe the excess oil from the oil filter mounting.

You should push the oil pump screen tube completely into the oil pump before tightening the bolt, and should not allow the bolt to pull the tube into the pump.

You need to remove the oil pan, the engine front cover, the oil pump screen bolt, and nuts, the oil pump screen with O-ring seal and the O-ring seal from the pump screen, discard the O-ring seal, and remove the remaining crankshaft oil deflector nuts, the crankshaft oil deflector, the oil pump bolts, and the oil pump, clean and inspect the oil pump.

To completely drain the oil from the oil pan's internal baffling, the bottom of the oil pan must be level during the oil drain procedure.
