FAQ for A/C Condenser Repair

Q: How do you install the Condenser?
A:
If replacing the condenser, you can add refrigerant oil to the condenser. You need to install the upper rubber mounts onto the condenser and the lower ends of the condenser into the lower rubber mounts, tilt the top of the condenser into place, install the new O-ring seals onto the A/C compressor hose and the condenser tube, connect the condenser tube to the condenser, tighten the condenser tube nut, connect the A/C compressor hose to the condenser, install the A/C compressor hose block fitting nut to the condenser, the radiator, and the air cleaner assembly, evacuate and recharge the A/C system and then leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.

The recommended torque is 16 Nm (12 lb-ft).

Q: How do you remove the Condenser?
A:
You need to recover the refrigerant, remove the air cleaner assembly and the radiator, loosen the condenser tube nut from the condenser, disconnect the condenser tube from the condenser, remove the A/C compressor hose block fitting nut from the condenser, disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the condenser, tilt the top of the condenser to the rear of the vehicle and lift to remove the condenser, ensure the lower rubber mounts stay in place in the vehicle and remove the upper rubber mounts from the condenser.
