FAQ for Abs Control Module Repair

Q: How do you remove the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)?
A:
You need to turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, remove the front fender upper diagonal brace, and disconnect the accelerator and cruise control cable from the accelerator control cable bracket and the cruise control module from the left strut tower. It is not necessary to remove the cable from the module. Then you can position the module and cables aside, remove the air cleaner intake duct, disengage the red locking tab from the connector lock tab, push down the lock tab and then move the sliding connector cover to the open position, disconnect the electronic brake control module (EBCM) harness connector, remove any dirt/debris from the assembly and the 4 EBCM to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) retainers and separate the EBCM from the BPMV by gently pulling apart until separated.

Q: How do you install the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)?
A:
You need to install the EBCM to the BPMV and the 4 retainers that attach the EBCM to BPMV, connect the EBCM harness connector, push down the lock tab and then move the sliding connector cover back in the home position to lock, reengage the red locking tab to the connected lock tab, install the air cleaner intake duct and reposition the module and cables. Then you can connect the cruise control module to the left strut tower and the accelerator and cruise control cable to the accelerator control cable bracket, install the front fender upper diagonal brace and turn the ignition switch to the RUN position, do not start the engine.
