Q: How do you remove the Crankshaft Balancer?
A:
You need to remove the drive belt, the right front tire, and wheel, and the right engine splash shield, install the jack stands to the frame, loosen the left frame bolts and remove the right side frame bolts, and use the jack stands to lower the right side of the frame to access the crankshaft balancer, remove the torque converter covers, install the J 37096 to the flywheel to prevent flywheel rotation and remove the crankshaft balancer bolt and the washer and the crankshaft balancer by using the J 24420-C.

The recommended torque is 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).

Q: How do you install the Crankshaft Balancer?
A:
You need to apply sealant GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 10953472) or the equivalent to the keyway of the balancer, install the crankshaft balancer by using the J 29113, remove the J 29113, install the J 37096 to the flywheel to prevent flywheel rotation and the crankshaft balancer washer and the bolt, remove the J 37096 from the flywheel, install the torque converter covers, raise the frame to the original position and install and tighten the frame bolts, the right engine splash shield, the right front tire and wheel, and the drive belt.
