Q: How do you install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil?
A:
You can verify the wheels on the vehicle are straight ahead and that J 42640 is installed or the ignition switch is in the LOCK position, align the SIR coil assembly with the horn tower, slide the SIR coil onto the steering shaft assembly, seat the retaining ring into the groove, remove the centering tab from the new SIR coil, install the upper trim cover, install the lower trim cover, verify that the tabs on the lower trim cover engage with the tabs on the upper trim cover, align the tilt lever into the steering column, slide the tilt lever handle into the steering column, install the steering wheel onto the steering shaft and enable the SIR system.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil?
A:
The procedure is to disable the SIR system, verify the wheels on the vehicle are straight ahead and that J 42640 is installed or the ignition switch is in the LOCK position, remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft, pull the tilt lever straight out from the steering column, remove 2 TORX(R) head screws from the lower trim cover, remove the lower trim cover, remove 2 TORX(R) head screws from the upper trim cover, remove the upper trim cover, remove the wire harness straps, remove the retaining ring, remove the SIR coil and discard the SIR coil.
