Q: Why is there an intermittent malfunction indicator lamp being Illuminated?
A:
This condition may be caused by water intrusion into the instrument panel (IP) to the body harness connector, which carries the APP sensor signals to the ECM/PCM. This water intrusion results in a voltage difference between APP Sensor 1 and APP Sensor 2 that exceeds a predetermined value for more than a calibrated time, setting P2138.

Q: What should be noticed when servicing the Electrical-Instrument Panel and General Wiring?
A:
Apart restriction has been implemented on all Body and I/P harnesses and is being administered by the QPC. If a body or I/P harness replacement is required, it can take 12-28 weeks for a harness to be built and delivered to a dealer. The dealer technician is expected to repair any harness damage as the first and best choice before replacing a harness.
