The proper way is to install the shift lever assembly to the steering column, install the shift lever screw into the shift lever assembly, slide the shift lever seal down the shift lever assembly, align the shift lever seal into the steering column trim covers, and then enable the SIR system.

The procedure is to raise and support the vehicle, support the transmission with a transmission jack, remove the two nuts securing the Transmission Mount to the transmission support, raise the transmission off of the transmission support, and then remove the bolts.
Q: What is the removal procedure for the automatic transmission fluid/filter?
A:
The procedure is to disconnect the range selector cable from the transmission range selector lever ball stud, remove the bolts securing the transmission range selector cable bracket to the transmission, remove the oil pan bolts from the front and sides of the pan only, remove the remaining oil pan bolts, remove the oil pan and the gasket, remove the filter seal.
Q: What is the removal procedure for the transmission fluid cooler hose/pipe?
A:
The procedure is to remove the transmission fluid cooler lines from the retainer located on the radiator, remove the transmission fluid cooler lines from the retainer located on the right side of the engine, remove the transmission support, remove the front exhaust pipe assembly, and then remove the transmission fluid cooler lines from the vehicle.
