The proper way is to install the CHMSL bulbs, install the CHMSL assembly to the vehicle, and then install the screws that retain the center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) lens to the vehicle.

The proper way is to install the bulbs to the tail lamp, back up lamp, and/or side marker lamp sockets, install the tail lamp and/or backup lamp sockets to the tail lamp, rotating clockwise until the locking tab is fully seated, and then install the tail lamp screws to the tail lamp.
