Q: What is the removal procedure for the parking lock cable?
A:
The procedure is to disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system, remove the console, remove the lock cylinder bezel from the steering column shroud by carefully prying with a thin-bladed screwdriver, remove the shroud fasteners, remove the steering column upper and lower shroud panels, make sure the key is in the OFF position, squeeze the tabs and disconnect the park lock cable from the shift control park lock lever.

Q: What is the adjustment procedure for the park brake?
A:
The procedure is to turn on the ignition and then turn off it. Then you disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system, remove the front floor console, loosen the adjusting nut completely to the end of the front cable threaded rod, raise and support the vehicle, remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies, adjust the rear drum brakes and install 2-wheel nuts to the wheel studs and firmly hand tighten to retain the brake drums.

The procedure is to push the cable toward the rear of the vehicle, press the cable down into the slot on the lever, adjust the rear drum brakes and install the brake drum, the rear tire and wheel assembly, the park brake, the bolt and nut to the park brake cable retainer and the lower trailing arm, the park brake cable pass-through grommet, the park brake cable to the underbody retainer, the bolt to the park brake cable retainer and the vehicle underbody, the cable end, and the rear carpet retainers.
