2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Hood Release Cable

The procedure is to open the hood, remove the hood latch, disconnect the hood release cable from the hood latch, remove the carpet retainer, disconnect the hood release cable from the hood release handle, tie a piece of string around the hood release cable, remove the hood release cable grommet from the dash panel, note routing of cable and remove the hood release cable from the vehicle.

You can transfer the string to either end of the new hood release cable, route the string and the hood release cable into the passenger compartment, remove the string from the hood release cable, seat the hood release cable grommet into the cowl, connect the hood release cable to the hood release handle, install the carpet retainer, pull the string and the hood release cable into the engine compartment, remove the string from the hood release cable, install the hood release cable and the hood latch and close the hood.
