The procedure is to raise the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly, install J 42640, position the intermediate steering shaft seal, remove the lower pinch bolt and the intermediate steering shaft, lower the vehicle, remove the left instrument panel insulator, reposition the intermediate steering shaft seal, remove the upper pinch bolt, disconnect the intermediate steering shaft and remove the intermediate steering shaft.

A:
You can install the intermediate shaft lower and upper seal, connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column, install the intermediate shaft seal to the steering column and install the intermediate shaft seal bolts.

The procedure is to turn the ignition off, remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder, remove the intermediate shaft seal from the steering column, disconnect the intermediate shaft, push the intermediate shaft down, remove the intermediate shaft seal bolts and remove the intermediate shaft seal.

Q: How do you install the intermediate steering shaft?
A:
You can position the intermediate steering shaft into place, install the upper pinch bolt and the intermediate steering shaft seal, raise the vehicle, install the intermediate steering shaft and the lower pinch bolt, remove the J 42640, install the intermediate steering shaft seal onto the power steering gear, install the tire and wheel assembly, lower the vehicle and install the left instrument panel insulator.

Q: What is the recommended torque when you install the 4 new steering column support TORX screws?
A:
You can tighten the 4 steering column support TORX screws to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
