Q: What is the removal procedure for the automatic transmission range selector cable?
A:
You need to position the steering column shift lever to the park position, remove the instrument panel knee bolster and the driver's seat, pull back the carpet and insulation around the driver's area, remove the retainer securing the cable and the cable end from the steering column ball stud, depress the tangs and remove the cable, remove the bolt securing the cable support to the brace, remove the range selector cable from the support and the cable grommet from the floor panel, remove the clips on the cable, ensure the transmission manual shaft is positioned in the mechanical park, remove the retainer that secures the cable to the bracket, the cable clip on the transfer case and the range selector cable end, depress the tangs and remove the cable, and lower the vehicle and ensure that the steering column shift lever is still in the park position.

Q: What is the adjustment procedure for the automatic transmission range selector cable?
A:
You need to ensure that the steering column shift lever is in the park (P) position, raise and support the vehicle, ensure that the transmission manual shaft lever is in the park (P) position, grasp the shift cable shifter end, and the shift cable transmission end, align the outside diameter of the transmission end, push the end of the transmission cable inside the shifter end, release the transmission end and allow the spring to tension/adjust the cable system, pull the white cover on the shifter end back, push the natural colored lock button down to engage the locking teeth, release the white cover, verify the white cover conceals the natural colored lock, lower the vehicle, and test the transmission for proper shift operation.
