After turning the ignition off and removing the key, you need to install J 42640 to the steering column, remove the left closeout panel, and disconnect the intermediate shaft seal. Then you can remove, disconnect, and collapse the intermediate shaft. After that, you can cut slits in the insulation. Then you need to remove the intermediate shaft seal bolts and the intermediate shaft seal.

Q: How to install the intermediate steering shaft seal?
A:
After collapsing the lower intermediate shaft seal and installing the intermediate shaft seal over, you can connect the intermediate shaft, install the upper intermediate shaft pinch bolt and the intermediate shaft seal bolts, connect the intermediate shaft seal, and install the left closeout panel. After raising and supporting the vehicle, you can connect the lower intermediate shaft seal and lower the vehicle.

Then you need to raise and support the vehicle, remove the left front tire and wheel, and push the intermediate shaft lower seal up into the intermediate shaft upper seal. After that, you can remove the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt, push the intermediate steering shaft up, lower the vehicle, and remove the left closeout panel. Then you can pull the intermediate steering shaft seal down off, remove the intermediate shaft, disconnect the intermediate shaft, and remove the intermediate steering shaft.
