2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV Belt Tensioner

You need to remove the oil pump and the starter motor, install the J 42386-A and bolts, use one M10-1.5 x 120 mm and one M10-1.5 x 45 mm bolt for proper tool operation, rotate the crankshaft sprocket until the camshaft position (CMP) actuator alignment mark and the crankshaft sprocket alignment mark are aligned and remove and discard the CMP actuator solenoid valve and the CMP actuator and Timing Chain. Next, you can loosen and separate the CMP actuator and timing chain from the camshaft, position your fingers behind the actuator sprocket and pull the actuator away from the front of the camshaft, never pull on the reluctor wheel when attempting to remove the actuator and insert and secure a tie strap through the center of the actuator and over the reluctor wheel. Then you can remove the timing chain tension bolts and tensioner, the crankshaft sprocket, and the crankshaft sprocket key.

You need to remove the accessory drive belt and loosen the drive belt Idler Pulley bolt and remove the idler pulley.

You need to remove the radiator support, the valve lifters, the engine front cover, and the starter motor, then install the J 42386-A and bolts, rotate the crankshaft sprocket until the Camshaft position (CMP) actuator alignment mark and the crankshaft sprocket alignment mark are aligned and remove and discard the CMP actuator solenoid valve, the CMP actuator and timing chain, and the camshaft retainer bolts and retainer. Then you can install the camshaft sprocket bolt into the camshaft front bolt hole, carefully rotate and remove the camshaft from the engine block and remove the bolt from the camshaft.
