Q: How do you remove the wheel drive shaft's inner joint and seal it?
A:
You need to remove the wheel drive shaft, use a hand grinder to cut through the swaging ring, remove the tripot housing from the half shaft, wipe the grease off of the housing and thoroughly degrease the tripot housing. You should allow the tripot housing to dry before assembly, remove the small boot retaining clamp, clean the half shaft bar and remove any rust in the seal mounting area (grooves). Then you can inspect the needle rollers, needle bearings, trunnion, and tripot housing for unusual wear, cracks, or other damage and replace any damaged parts with the appropriate service kit.

Q: How can you assemble the tripot housing and the tripot seal?
A:
You need to pinch the swaging ring slightly by hand to distort it into an oval shape, slide the distorted swage ring over the large diameter of the seal, place the tripot housing over the spider assembly, install the seal onto the tripot housing and align the tripot seal, with the swaging ring in place, over the flat area on the tripot housing.

Q: How do you remove the Rear Axle Shaft (8.6, 9.5 LD Axle)?
A:
You need to remove the tire and wheel assembly, the brake caliper, the rear wheel speed sensor, the rear cover, the gasket, and the pinion shaft locking bolt. On axles without a locking differential, remove the pinion shaft. On axles with a locking differential, remove the shaft partway. On axles with a locking differential, use a screwdriver, or a similar tool, to enter the differential case and rotate the lock until the lock aligns with the thrust block. Then you can push the flange of the Axle Shaft toward the differential, and remove the C-lock from the button end of the axle shaft and the axle shaft from the housing.
Q: What should you align when positioning the CV joint end (outboard end) of the half shaft assembly in the bottom half of J 36652-1 or J 36652-2?
A:
You need to align the CV Joint Boot, the CV joint assembly, and the swaging ring.
Q: How do you remove the front axle lubricant?
