You need to remove the catalytic converter, as required, the muffler assembly, as required and the left front floor panel exhaust heat shield nuts and heat shield, as required. If the vehicle is a Tahoe, Yukon, Yukon Denali, or Escalade, remove the exhaust heat shield nuts and heat shields, as required. If the vehicle is a Suburban, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, or an Avalanche, remove the exhaust heat shield nuts and heat shields, as required, and remove the rear floor panel exhaust heat shield nuts and heat shield, as required.

Q: How do you install the dash panel exhaust heat shield?
A:
You need to install the dash panel exhaust heat shield to the dash panel studs, the dash panel exhaust heat shield nuts, and the catalytic converter. For 2500 series vehicles, position the oil pan skid plate, tighten the 2 rear oil pan skid plate bolts, and install the 2 front oil pan skid plate bolts. For 1500 series vehicles, position the oil pan skid plate and install the oil pan skid plate bolts. Then you can position the engine shield to the frame and install and tighten the engine shield bolts.

You need to raise and support the vehicle and remove the engine shield bolts and shield. For 1500 series vehicles, remove the oil pan skid plate bolts and skid plate. For 2500 series vehicles, loosen the 2 rear oil pan skid plate bolts, and remove the 2 front oil pan skid plate bolts and skid plate. Then you can remove the catalytic converter, the dash panel exhaust heat shield nuts, and the dash panel exhaust heat shield from the dash panel studs.
