You need to raise and support the vehicle, disconnect the electrical connector and the vent hose from the encoder motor, then remove the encoder motor mounting bolts, and remove the encoder motor and O-ring seal from the transfer case. Discard the O-ring seal.

Q: How to install the Transfer Case Encoder Motor?
A:
You should lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean transfer case fluid, insert the O-ring seal into the transfer case, position the encoder motor to the transfer case, align the actuator shaft, and install the encoder motor mounting bolts, with the heated oxygen sensor bracket, then connect the electrical connector and the vent hose to the encoder motor, then lower the vehicle.
