FAQ for Oil Pan Repair

Q: How do I install the oil pan?
A:
You need to ensure that the oil pan and the sealing surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris, and apply a 2 mm (0.079 in) bead of sealant around the oil pan. Next, attach the oil, install the lower air conditioning (A/C) compressor bolt and the engine drive belt, lower the vehicle, and then fill the crankcase with oil.

Q: How do I remove the oil pan?
A:
Start with lifting and supporting the vehicle. Then place a drain pan under the drain plug. Drain the engine oil, remove the engine drive belt, the lower AC compressor bolt, the oil pan, and any old oil pan sealant.
