The procedure is to disable the SIR system, and remove the front and rear door sill plate, the center pillar lower molding, the center pillar upper molding, the rear window lower trim panel, the body lock pillar garnish molding, the rear assist handle, the front assist handle (passenger side only) and the windshield garnish molding.

To prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, you must not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS) and shall turn OFF the ignition, and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.
