2008 Cadillac DTS Oil Filter

You may need to fill the oil filter with oil, lightly oil the replacement oil filter gasket with clean oil, then install the new oil filter and tighten the new oil filter to 3/4 to 1 full turn, after the oil filter gasket contacts the oil filter mounting surface, install the engine oil drain plug and tighten the engine oil drain plug to 20 N.m (15 lb-ft), then lower the vehicle, fill the engine with new engine oil, and inspect for oil leaks.

You will need to raise and support the vehicle, position the oil drain pan under the engine oil drain plug, remove the engine oil drain plug, clean and inspect the engine oil drain plug and replace it if necessary, then clean and inspect the engine oil drain plug sealing surface on the oil pan, repair or replace oil pan if necessary, next remove the oil filter and clean and inspect the oil filter sealing area on the oil filter adapter, repair or replace if necessary.

You will need to remove the engine oil pan, remove the oil pump pickup tube support nut from the main bearing stud, remove the mounting bolt from the oil manifold plate, and next remove the oil pump pickup tube.

You may need to lubricate the silicone seal in the oil manifold plate, then install the oil pump pick-up retaining bolt and nut, tighten the oil pump pick-up tube nut to 24 N.m (18 lb-ft), and the oil pump pick-up tube bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in), finally install the oil pan.
