You can set the front wheels in the straight-ahead position, install anti-rotation pin J 42640 in the steering column lower access, remove the engine shield, mark the relationships of the Steering Shaft coupling, the upper intermediate steering shaft, and the power steering gear, remove the steering shaft coupling bolt at the steering gear, the steering shaft coupling nut and bolt, the steering shaft coupling from the vehicle.

You can apply the park brake, deplete the vacuum reserve in the vacuum booster by applying the brake pedal 3 times or until the brake pedal becomes firm, remove the electrical connectors for the DOD sensor and the active booster connector, the vacuum hose from the check valve, the 2 master cylinder nuts, position the master cylinder aside and secure with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent, remove the Brake Booster pushrod retainer bolt, the brake booster pushrod retainer, the stop lamp switch, the brake booster nuts, the power vacuum brake booster, and discard the brake booster gasket.

When adding fluid to the Brake Master Cylinder reservoir, use only Delco Supreme 11(R), GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. The use of any type of fluid other than the recommended type of brake fluid may cause contamination which could result in damage to the internal rubber seals and/or rubber linings of hydraulic brake system components.
