You can remove the air cleaner outlet duct, inspect the throttle body bore and the throttle plate for deposits, and clean the throttle body bore and the throttle plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner, P/N 1052626, or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner, P/N X66-P, or an equivalent product.

02/11/2022Q: How to remove the JST Connectors?
A:
You can remove the connector from the component, locate the two indents of the terminal position assurance (TPA) located on the bottom of the connector body, use a small flat-blade tool to raise the TPA on both sides of the connector, release the terminals by inserting the tool into the left side of the terminal release cavity, move the terminal release to the right with a gentle prying motion, pull the wire out of the back of the connector.

02/11/2022Q: How to remove the AFL/EPC Connectors?
A:
For connectors with a bolt in the dress cover, turn the bolt counterclockwise to remove the connector from the component. You can locate the connector position assurance (CPA) on the top of the wire dress cover. Slide the CPA forward, slide the lever lock forward while pressing down on the lever lock release tab, disconnect the connector from the component, locate the dress cover locking tabs at the corners of the dress cover, use a small flat-blade tool to release the locking tabs and remove the dress cover, release the rear lower half of the wiredress cover, the tabs that are holding the wiredress cover to the connector body, remove the nose piece by inserting a small flat-blade tool into the slots on both ends of the connector body, pry the nose piece out of the connector. J 38125-216 can also be used to remove the nose piece, and release the terminals by lifting the terminal retaining tabs on the inside of the connector. While holding the removal tool in place, gently pull the wire out of the back of the connector. Always remember never to use force when pulling a terminal out of a connector.

You can set the rotary dial of the DMM to the V (DC) position, connect the positive lead of the DMM to one end of the circuit to be tested, the negative lead of the DMM to a good ground, turn ON the ignition and operate all accessories. If the voltage measured is greater than 1 volt, there is a short voltage in the circuit.

You can slide the lever lock forward while pressing down on the lever lock release tab, disconnect the connector from the component, locate the dress cover locking tabs at the corners of the dress cover, and use a small flat-blade tool to slide the terminal position assurance (TPA) up one notch on both ends of the connector. While holding the removal tool in place, gently pull the wire out of the back of the connector. Always remember never to use force when pulling a terminal out of a connector.
