You should install the J 42640 to the steering column, remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts, raise the vehicle, remove the lower exhaust manifold heat shield bolt, disconnect the center intermediate shaft from the lower intermediate shaft, remove the exhaust manifold heat shield, the upper exhaust manifold heat shield insulator from the oil level indicator tube, if necessary and the lower exhaust manifold heat shield insulator from the oil level indicator and exhaust gasket, if necessary.

Q: How to remove the Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield-Right Side (V8 With LHD)?
A:
You should remove the generator assembly and the exhaust system, disconnect the bank 1, sensor 1 oxygen sensor pigtail electrical connector from the wiring harness connector, remove the right outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle and the bolts securing the engine wiring harness bracket to the right cylinder head, position the wiring harness bracket aside to aid in the removal of the exhaust manifold shield, remove the bolts securing the exhaust manifold heat shield to the exhaust manifold, reposition the exhaust manifold shield forward in a vehicle in the area where the generator mounts and remove the exhaust manifold from the vehicle and the heat shield from the vehicle.

Q: How to remove the Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield-Left Side (V8 w/LHD)?
A:
You should remove the air cleaner housing assembly and the nut securing the air conditioning (A/C) lines to the left-hand shock tower, position the lines aside to provide tool access to the exhaust manifold shield front bolt, remove the front upper heat shield bolt, disconnect the master cylinder electrical connector, remove the master cylinder mounting nuts, position the master cylinder towards the engine to gain tool access to the exhaust manifold shield rear bolt, remove the rear upper heat shield bolt, disconnect both bank 2 heated oxygen sensor pigtail connectors from the wiring harness connector and remove the power steering gear, the lower intermediate steering shaft, the exhaust system, the bank 2, sensor 1 heated oxygen sensor and the remaining exhaust manifold heat shield bolt and remove the shield.

Q: How to remove the Exhaust Heat Shield-Center Bearing?
A:
You should raise and support the vehicle and remove the bolts securing the center bearing heat shield to the center bearing and the heat shield from the center bearing by tilting the heat shield to either side, sliding the heat shield out from between the body, the drive shaft center bearing, and the exhaust pipes and removing the heat shield from the vehicle.
