A:
You should provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury, apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate assist rod that you are removing or attaching, open and support the liftgate, remove the tail lamp, release the clip retaining the liftgate assist rod to the lower assist rod ball stud and the upper assist rod ball stud and remove the liftgate assist rod from the vehicle.
