The proper way is to disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the stop lamp switch, pull out the shaft of the stop lamp switch to its maximum set point, connect the stop lamp switch electrical connector, depress the brake pedal to the bottom, install the stop lamp switch in the brake pedal bracket hole by twisting, release the brake pedal slowly until reaching the end of the stop lamp switch shaft, and then connect the negative battery cable.
