The proper way is to loosen the alternator adjusting bolt and move the alternator until the gage indicates the proper tension, and then tighten the alternator adjusting bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb-ft).

Q: How to check the belt tension?
A:
The proper way is to check the tension on the pump drive belt with the J 23600-B, and then adjust the belt if the J 23600-B does not indicate the proper tension.
