Q: What is the removal procedure for the Drive Pinion and Ring Gear?
A:
Raise the vehicle. Remove the axle shafts. Remove the differential assembly. Remove the drive pinion yoke and the oil seal. Install the J 22536 as shown. Drive the pinion out. Remove the collapsible spacer. Remove the pinion bearings and the cups. Remove the left-hand threaded ring gear bolts. Discard the bolts. Remove the ring gear from the differential. Drive the gear off with a brass drift if necessary.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the Drive Pinion Bearings?
A:
Raise the vehicle. Remove the differential assembly. Remove the drive pinion from the axle. For the 8.6-inch axle, install the J 45871 around the pinion bearing and the J 22912-B in the inverted position around the J 45871. Press the bearing off of the pinionRemove the shim. Remove the outer pinion-bearing cup. Remove the inner pinion bearing cup from the axle housing.

You will need an outer bearing race installer, universal driver handle, rear pinion bearing race installer, flange and pulley holding tool, split-plate bearing puller, pinion cone, side bearing installer, pinion oil seal installer, and extension housing oil pump/seal installer.
