The proper way is to disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the front lower air deflector panel, the torque converter cover, the Starter solenoid BAT terminal nut from the starter motor, the positive battery cable terminal and engine harness terminal from the starter, disconnect the starter motor electrical connector, then remove the starter bolts and the starter.
