FAQ for Spare Tire Hoist Repair

Q: What procedure should you perform if the secondary latch is engaged and the cable end is visible?
A:
You should tighten the cable by turning the hoist shaft clockwise, loosen the cable by turning the hoist shaft counterclockwise 3 or 4 turns, repeat steps 1 and 2 to see if the spare tire can be removed, raise the vehicle, place a transmission jack, or equivalent, under the spare tire, position the center of the transmission jack under the secondary latch release button, raise the jack and lower the tire.

Q: How do you install the spare wheel hoist?
A:
You can inspect the tire hoist mounting assembly mounting bolts, install the tire hoist assembly, install the tire hoist mounting assembly bolts, install the spare tire, turn the hoist shaft clockwise, remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
