You can remove the crankshaft balancer and remove the crankshaft front oil seal from the front cover.

Q: What is the removal procedure for the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing?
A:
The procedure is to remove the automatic transmission flexplate, the oil pan-to-rear oil seal housing bolts, the rear oil seal housing bolts, the rear oil seal housing and gasket, discard the gasket and remove and discard the rear oil seal.

Q: How do you install the Crankshaft Front Oil Seal (Except LMG, LY2, and LY5)?
A:
You can lubricate the outer edge of the oil seal and the front cover oil seal bore with clean engine oil, install the crankshaft front oil seal, install the J 41478 threaded rod (with nut, washer, guide, and oil seal), install the oil seal and install the crankshaft balancer.

Q: How do you install the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing?
A:
You can apply a 5 mm (0.2 in) bead of sealant, and 20 mm (0.8 in) to the 2 joints at the rear of the block/pan and inspect the rear oil gallery plug for proper installation.
