Q: How do you install the Master Cylinder Reservoir (JH6)?
A:
You need to lubricate the master cylinder reservoir seals and the outer surface area of the reservoir-to-housing barrels with GM-approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. If reinstalling the master cylinder reservoir, clean the reservoir with denatured alcohol, or equivalent, and allow it to dry. You need to install the master cylinder reservoir seals to the master cylinder, ensure the master cylinder reservoir seals are fully seated in the master cylinder body, lubricate the master cylinder reservoir-to-master cylinder barrels with GM-approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container, carefully press the master cylinder reservoir straight downward and install the reservoir to the master cylinder, install the master cylinder reservoir bolts, connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector and fill the master cylinder reservoir.

Q: How do you remove the Brake Master Cylinder Adapter?
A:
You need to place the transmission in the PARK or NEUTRAL position, apply the parking brake, turn the ignition to OFF, without pausing at ACCESSORY, and without applying the brake pedal, remove the ignition key, wait approximately 1 to 3 minutes until the brake modulator and HPA pressure relief is complete and remove the master cylinder nuts. Then you can discard the master cylinder nuts, without disconnecting the brake pipes, release and carefully position aside the master cylinder, inspect the master cylinder seal for damage and replace and disconnect the brake master cylinder (BMC) primary piston position sensor electrical connector. Next, you can remove the brake pushrod retainer bolt and the brake pushrod retainer, slide the stop lamp switch off of the brake pedal pushrod pin while simultaneously disconnecting the brake pushrod, remove the 4 brake pedal bracket nuts and the brake master cylinder adapter and inspect the master cylinder adapter gasket for damage and replace.

Q: What is the Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding procedure?
A:
You need to secure the mounting flange of the brake master cylinder in a bench vise so that the rear of the primary piston is accessible, remove the master cylinder reservoir cap and diaphragm, install suitable fittings to the master cylinder ports that match the type of flare seat required and also provide for hose attachment and transparent hoses to the fittings installed to the master cylinder ports, then route the hoses into the master cylinder reservoir, fill the master cylinder reservoir to at least the half-way point with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container and ensure that the ends of the transparent hoses running into the master cylinder reservoir are fully submerged in the brake fluid. Then you can use a smooth, round-ended tool, depress and release the primary piston as far as it will travel, a depth of about 25 mm (1 in), several times and observe the flow of fluid coming from the ports. As air is bled from the primary and secondary pistons, the effort required to depress the primary piston will increase and the amount of travel will decrease. Then you need to continue to depress and release the primary piston until fluid flows freely from the ports with no evidence of air bubbles, remove the transparent hoses from the master cylinder reservoir, install the master cylinder reservoir cap and diaphragm, remove the fittings with the transparent hoses from the master cylinder ports, wrap the master cylinder with a clean shop cloth to prevent brake fluid spills and remove the master cylinder from the vise.
