Q: How do you remove the Camshaft Position Actuator?
A:
You need to remove the oil pump, remove and discard the camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve, loosen and separate the CMP actuator and timing chain from the camshaft, position your fingers behind the actuator sprocket and pull the actuator away from the front of the camshaft, remove the CMP actuator and timing chain and insert and secure a tie strap through the center of the actuator and over the reluctor wheel.

Q: How do you remove the Camshaft?
A:
You need to remove the radiator support, the valve lifters, and the engine front cover, install the J 42386-A and bolts, use one M10-1.5 x 120 mm and one M10-1.5 x 45 mm bolt for proper tool operation, rotate the crankshaft sprocket until the camshaft position (CMP) actuator alignment mark and the crankshaft sprocket alignment mark are aligned, remove and discard the CMP actuator solenoid valve, the CMP actuator and timing chain, and the camshaft retainer bolts and retainer, install the camshaft sprocket bolt into the camshaft front bolt hole, use the bolt as a handle, carefully rotate and remove the camshaft from the engine block and remove the bolt from the camshaft.
