A:
The proper way is to install a new retaining ring into the quick connect fitting, rotate the retaining ring around the fitting until the retaining ring is positioned with all 3 ears through the 3 slots on the fitting, install the cooler line into the quick connect fitting, and then fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON(R) VI transmission fluid.

Q: What should be done before replacing the transmission fluid cooler hose/pipe connector?
A:
You should drain the cooling system, remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe from the oil cooler fittings on the radiator, and then should not remove the upper and lower transaxle oil cooler fittings from the radiator at the same time other wise the transaxle oil cooler many fall inside the radiator end tank.

The procedure is to remove the front bumper fascia, remove the front upper fascia support fasteners to tip the bracket back, remove the transmission fluid cooler hose from the auxiliary oil cooler, remove the transmission fluid cooler hose from the radiator, remove the engine protection shield, remove the cooling lines from the transmission, remove the right differential carrier mounting nuts and washers, remove the right front shock rear mounting bolt only from the lower control arm, and then remove the oil cooling lines rearward from the vehicle.
