FAQ for Parking Brake Cable Repair

Q: What is the parking brake cable installation procedure?
A:
First, install the new parking brake cable through the brake backing plate and the brake shoes/drums. Next insert the plastic sleeve into the brake backing plate and press in the retaining ring. After that install the parking brake cable to the underbody side brackets on each side of the vehicle and tighten the bolts to 12 Nm. Install the parking cable on the rear axle brackets on each side of the vehicle and tighten the bolt to 12 Nm.
