FAQ for Brake Shoe Set Repair

Q: How do I remove the Brake Shoe?
A:
Start with removing the brake drum, spring, and lever. Then carefully spread the top of the brake shoes away from the wheel cylinder and remove the brake shoe adjuster assembly. Remove the brake shoe and hold-down springs and cups. Rotate the forward brake shoe toward the rear axle flange and remove the lower retaining spring. Remove the forward brake shoe, and the upper return spring. Then release the park brake cable fitting from the brake shoe park brake apply lever. Remove the park brake lever from the brake shoe.
