You can install the positive cable from the vehicle, connect the positive lead to the generator output (BAT) terminal, clip the positive cable to the fan shroud on models equipped with 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.0L engine, raise the vehicle, install the battery positive cable retainer clips on models with 4.8L and 6.0L engine, the positive cable retainer clips to the frame, the positive cable to the chassis harness clips, the positive cable retainer clips and the positive lead to the starter solenoid, lower the vehicle, clip battery positive cable to the engine harness retainer on models with 4.8L and 6.0L engine and the positive cable to the engine harness clip, install the positive lead to the junction block on models with 4.8L and 6.0L engine, connect the battery positive cable to the battery and the battery negative cable to the battery and then install the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank.

The procedure is to remove the bolt retaining the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank, position the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank aside, disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery, the battery positive cable from the battery, and the positive lead to the junction block on models equipped with the 4.8L, or 6.0L engine, unclip the battery positive cable from the engine harness clip on models equipped with 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L engine and the battery positive cable from the engine harness retainer, raise the vehicle, disconnect the positive lead at the starter solenoid, remove the battery positive cable retainer clips on models with 4.8L and 6.0L engine, the positive cable to the chassis harness clips, the positive cable retainer clips from the frame and battery positive cable retainer clips from crossmember, lower the vehicle, unclip the battery positive cable from the fan shroud on models equipped with the 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L engine, disconnect the positive lead to the generator, and then remove the positive cable from the vehicle.
