The procedure is to lubricate the Oil Filter seal with clean engine oil, install the oil filter to the engine block and the oil drain plug to the engine block, lower the vehicle, fill the crankcase with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil, remove the oil level indicator wipe the indicator with a clean cloth, install the oil level indicator, remove the oil level indicator to check the level, add oil if necessary, and then close the hood.

You can apply a 5 mm (0.20 in) bead of sealant 20 mm (0.80 in) long to the engine block and a 5 mm (0.20 in) bead of sealant 20 mm (0.8 in) long to the engine block, pre-assemble the Oil Pan gasket to the pan, install the oil pan, gasket and bolts to the engine block, tighten the oil pan bolts until snug, install the transmission converter cover bolts until snug if equipped with the 4L80-E automatic transmission, the transmission bolt and stud on the right side until snug if equipped with the 4L60-E automatic transmission, the bottom bolt on the left side and the positive battery cable clip bolt , slide the channel pin into the oil pan tab, install the battery cable channel bolt, connect the oil level sensor electrical connector, install the transmission cover and bolt, the crossbar, the crossbar bolts and the transmission cover bolt, raise the front drive axle into position, install the differential carrier upper mounting bolt and nut until snug if equipped with AWD and the differential carrier lower mounting bolt and nut and the inner axle housing washers and nuts to the bracket if equipped with AWD, remove the jack from the front drive axle, and then install new engine oil and a new oil filter.

You can install the oil pan cover, bolts, and NEW oil pan cover gasket, the oil filter fitting, and the oil filter, and then refill the engine oil.
